We trundled off from the Peaslake car park with evidence of the recent harvesting all around us. The climb to the top car park can be a leg awakener but a reasonable warm up makes the climb across the bridleway to the Judge’s Seat a tad easier. Continue reading

A year in the life of a Blur LT
Easter 2007 I bought a Santa Cruz Blur LT frame. The first thing I noticed when lifting the frame out of the box was that all the tubes were large diameter and very chunky in the hand, the frame itself was almost the same weight as that of my Nomad; this was a surprise. The Blur was built with a mix of SRAM X9 and Shimano XT drive-train, Mavic 717 rims, layback seat post, Formula ORO K24 brakes, my usual high-n-wide bars, slime tubes and Michelin all mountain extreme tyres. Initially it was fitted with a Fox 32 Vanilla 130 mm travel fork although this was soon changed to a Pace 40 fighter with 150mm travel. Continue reading

A cracking ride, great weather and many laughs. A figure of eight loop taking in some well known and less well know trails on Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill with a relatively swoopy climb back to the carpark via the Greensand Way. Continue reading

We met Tony & Rosanna by the trig point at the top of Holmbury Hill on 2nd August. They live in Holmbury with the North Downs playground right on their doorstep, happy bikers or what? They helped us out with directions to a trail that was lost in the mists of our memories.
