In July 08 I got hold of a SC Blur LT2 as a replacement for both a SC Nomad and the SC Blur LT1. For me the main attraction was a new toy and I justified it by the grease ports in the VPP suspension. I have replaced the VPP bearings on both the Nomad and BLT1 and it is a fiddle requiring almost a full strip-down of the bike. I also found that the bearings are easily removed with the press tool but getting the axles out could be a pig of a job.     Continue reading

Met Kaos

My old Met 5th Element is 4 years old, tatty and very smelly. I wanted a replacement that was 1) comfortable and fitted my head and 2) the most protection I could get without going to a full face job. The Giro Zen and Fox Flux both come highly recommended by those in our gang who have them but neither really fitted my head shape. As soon as the Met Kaos was on my head I knew it was the one – I must just have a Met shaped head! Continue reading
