Ride Saturday 18th July

Views across South Downs

Views across South Downs

As a change from our usual singletrack excursions on Saturday 18th July we will be riding the section of the South Downs Way from Beachy Head to Brighton.

We are meeting at Beachy Head carpark beside the visitor centre to roll at 2-45pm and finishing at ‘The Swan’ pub in Falmer for post ride food and drink. The distance is approximately 25 miles; however it includes a couple of stinker hills (up!) and shouldn’t be underestimated. This ride usually takes us between 3 and 3.5 hours depending on the weather and number and severity of mechanical breakdowns.

Some of us are getting the train from Brighton (main station, London Road and Falmer) to Eastbourne and riding to Beachy Head. The train leaves Brighton at about 12-45 and Falmer at 1pm.

Beyond Alfriston there is nowhere to buy anything so please bring plenty of food and drink with you. As always, this is a social ride, it will not be a race.

Feel free to join us.

Important bits

  • Bring plenty of food and water.
  • Bring cycling helmet and gloves as well as a spare tube and pump etc.
  • Bring plenty of cash as ‘The Swan’ does not take cards of any type or cheques.
  • Be ready to roll from Beachy Head at 2-45pm sharp.
  • Beachy Head carpark directions

See you there.
