22nd Oct bbq Ride

FireWorks & bbq

FireWorks & bbq

After final - planning the bbq went off without a hitch.

We met at the usual time and place and headed off into the singletrack. A couple of navigation errors but we soon sorted ourselves out (or more accurately we sorted out the navigator). Brian, Dave, Neil and Gill made the new jump look easy.

The weather was very mild with no rain so the fire was lit and ready to start cooking at 9pm. Between us we consumed 30 rolls, 15 burgers, 25 sausages, 4 veggie sausages, 9 chicken kebabs, 3 chicken breasts, three boxes of home-made brownies, 12 cans of beer and 14 cans of soft drink. The post grub banter was very entertaining as were the fireworks but the jury is still out on Dave’s jokes!

A massive thanks to Alec who helped out with by providing a lot of grub (he couldn’t join us due to final arrangements for his wedding on 24th Oct). Alec has asked if we can help out a local charity that he supports so next Thursday we will have a collection with proceeds going to the Mary How Trust  in Pulborough. For anyone who can’t make next Thursday ride a donation can be made here.

Great fun and thanks to everyone for bringing grub, drinks, empty stomachs and a sense of humour.

Discussions for something around Xmas have already started!
