I’ve had the Gore Phantom jacket for 14 months and to be honest until the last couple of months it has seen very little use. However, now when I have got used to it it has become a popular item of bike kit.

‘Gillian’s Trail’ takes shape
Our xmas eve ride had a limited attendance as texts arrived with cancelations due to xmas activities. Rather than try to ride the slippery singletrack we decided to have a play. After not riding for 3 weeks Gill was on form and cleared everything including all the old and new jumps on the jumpy trail, we then spotted a new exit that with a little work will be ‘interesting’! The Essence of MTB’ing
Approaching xmas and it seems we are all getting hit with family and general commitments. Gill hasn’t been able to make our last couple of rides due to work faffage so in order to keep her mojo she suggested a ride for Saturday 19th December, last minute plans were made and circulated; however we didn’t anticipate the snowfall on 18th which caused random chaos.

Getting the ‘Mojo’ back
All this wet weather has been keeping me off the bike recently. Work, family and training for a marathon have also had a part to play but if I’m honest the mere thought of venturing out into the cold, wet and muddy abyss has been the real reason. For a regular rider like me 2 or 3 weeks off the bike feels like a lifetime. I was worried I might have lost my mojo and terrified I’d dump riding altogether in favour of World of Warcraft or some other geeky indoor weirdness, where the only chance of my heart rate increasing was if the curry delivery was late. I had to get out on my bike! Continue reading
Dec 10th Night Ride
A break in the recent rain brought the local mtb’ers out in force for this evenings ride as 18 souls gathered in the chilly but windless and rainless carpark for some singletrack fun. Continue reading
Parts washer
How many tools are too many?
Sockets, spanners, screwdrivers, pliers and hex keys are all standard fare for the fettlers amongst us. Some mountain bikers will also use the occasional hammer, but only very carefully of course, and all of us need the one specialist tool that we do not have or has just broken. Continue reading
Ride Report 29th November 2009
A small but determined bunch made this ride. It was wet, muddy and cold but we all finished with a smile, pleased that we had braved the elements but grateful to be back in cars with the heaters set to max and thinking of a warm shower. Continue reading
