Our xmas eve ride had a limited attendance as texts arrived with cancelations due to xmas activities. Rather than try to ride the slippery singletrack we decided to have a play. After not riding for 3 weeks Gill was on form and cleared everything including all the old and new jumps on the jumpy trail, we then spotted a new exit that with a little work will be ‘interesting’!
We have had our eye on a new area for a while and today we took our first wheel rotations into the undergrowth. Gill had her eye-in and was soon spotting small but steep drop-offs, obstacles and root nests to include in the trail. As well as spotting the technical stuff true to form she had a go at everything even though the chances of success were usually zero. In view of this we named it ’Gillian’s Trail’ although her modesty made her suggest ‘Christmas Cracker’. Time will tell which name sticks. We promised her that it would be finished for her return to Brighton in January 2010.
We all successfully cleared the last couple of singletrack sections before going into the undergrowth for a final trail, we used to know the route but not having been down it for a couple of months we inevitably got lost. No matter, a small bomb hole and we were out right next to a jump opportunity. Gill was soon styling it in the air. From here it was straight back to the carpark with the comment that a few berms would make a lovely trail through the small section of woodland.
