We had the usual bike chat about where to ride in the area and what sort of bike etc, his new On-One 456 Ti was very nice, lightweight and really comfy during the short spin I had on it. The finish was eye catching a dull metal with flame graphics sort stenciled and polished, lovely.

Hopefully see you soon, for a longer ride without the pressures of dashing off for pre-arranged meets.

Ben & Bryn at Leith Hill

We meet Ben & Bryn on the Leith Hill at the bottom of the trail that many years ago used to be known as ‘Mother-in-law’, they were enjoying the blast down while we were gathering our resources for the climb up. A brief chat and it emerged they were from Brighton and were exploring the area – hopefully we didn’t confuse you too much!

Be good to meet up and exchange trail knowledge.

We met Tony & Rosanna by the trig point at the top of Holmbury Hill on 2nd August. They live in Holmbury with the North Downs playground right on their doorstep, happy bikers or what? They helped us out with directions to a trail that was lost in the mists of our memories.

We had a great day guys and hope you did.

I met Richard, Andy & Tony at Ditchling Beacon on the South Downs Way.

The guys were on their annual expedition from Worthing to Eastbourne along the South Downs Way. They were planning on an overnight stay just outside of Alfriston so that they could spend the evening eating and drinking in the ‘Sussex Ox’ pub – a good choice!

This is what mountain bike riding is all about, getting out and a good time bunch of mates. It doesn’t matter what sort of riding you prefer it all fits into the category of having fun in the fresh air.

Good to meet you and hope you made it safely.

Simon: 15 minutes of fame…

We met Simon at the junction of the South Downs Way with Black Cap, like us he was out making the most of the sunshine. A quick chat about the usual bike related stuff and swapping knowledge of trails in the area and we parted, Simon headed back to Ditchling Beacon while we dipped into some new singletrack.

Hope you had a good ride and maybe see you again.

We met Vicky and Kate on the South Downs between Ditchling Beacon and Blackcap. They were approaching the end of the first day of the Brighton newspaper ‘The Evening Argus’ South Downs Way ride and were looking forward to a rest and food at Brighton Rugby Club.

They were treating the event as a fun adventure and were enjoying it rather than suffering an ordeal. Hopefully they completed the event without any mishaps and enjoyed the whole event as much they had the first day.

We met Ricardo & Kate on the Hampshire Downs overlooking Chichester harbour and Havant they were both a long way from home, Spain and New Zealand respectively.

They had stopped on the trail to shed jackets, have a drink and look for a ‘tasty downhill’ that was marked on their route map. Hope you found the downhill trail and that it was memorable enough to make the trip to these shores worthwhile!
